Accessibility

All you need to know

Our accessibility statement is below. The aim of this statement is to offer information which will allow you to assess if Mandurah Cruises is suitable to visit given accessibility requirements. Our team will do everything we can to make your visit a welcoming, safe and enjoyable experience. If you have any unanswered questions after reading this statement, please get in touch with us before your visit 08 9581 1242 or reservations@mandurahcruises.com.au and we’ll be happy to offer you further information before you arrive.

Access By Bus

The closest bus stop is the corner of Hackett Street and Mandurah Terrace, via the 588 buses, which comes on a loop from Mandurah Train Station. The Transperth fleet is wheelchair accessible, allowing wheelchair access on and off the bus. Accessing our jetty and ticket office involves no further steps/ kerbs.

Access By car

We recommend parking on Ormsby Terrace. This is free all day and there are 4 ACROD parking bays. There are no ticket barriers. Kerbs have ramps built in to allow for wheelchair access, and from this car park there is a short (step and kerb free) walk to the front of the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre from where our boats depart.

Moving to the Jetty / Ticket OFfice

The Mandurah Cruises ticket office has a wheelchair accessible door with no steps required for access. Our desk is manned, and our team can take bookings. The office does have large print maps and easy to read signs. Doors are operated with electronic movement sensors.

PURCHASING TICKETS

Online ticket purchase is simple – just click the ‘Book Now’ button above to follow the easy to operate steps. Confirmations and tickets are automatically generated and there is no need to visit our office to check in, this is done at the jetty.

ACCESSIBLE TOILETS

There is an accessible public toilet opposite our ticket office, very close to our jetty. Dancing Dolphin has a toilet with a handrail and 1.2m clearance from toilet front to wall. It is not spacious for a wheelchair to be alongside the toilet, however. The Mandjar’s toilet, owing to the boat’s architecture, is not wheelchair accessible.

HARD OF HEARING

If joining a cruise, and have hearing concerns, please let the tour guide know and they will position themselves to allow for better hearing and, if needed, lip reading. We do have printed dolphin cruise commentary if needed – please let us know in advance so we can organise this to be collected from our ticket office.

VISUAL IMPAIRMENT

Let us know in advance if you need help boarding the vessel as we can organise guided access and seating. Service dogs can access water in our shop and can rest in the back if needed. Toileting can be performed on the vacant block on Mandurah Terrace opposite our ticket office.

FOOD ALLERGIES

Our fish and chips are purchased from Cicerello’s. Vegetarian and vegan options can be accommodated, as can gluten free. These are halal.

SENSORY NEEDS

We don’t have specific areas of lower lighting and reduced volume of people on our vessels, however our 10am and 3pm departures on our Dolphin Cruise and Views tour are usually much quieter. We do offer a sensory friendly Christmas Lights Cruise which has lower passenger numbers, reduced internal lighting and no Christmas music. Please see here for more information.

COMPANION CARDS

We accept companion cards on our Dolphin Cruise and Views tour. This needs to be booked via our office and can be done by calling 08 9581 1242 or emailing reservations@mandurahcruises.com.au with the booking name, email, mobile number, date and time of departure selected, fare types and number of guests, and post code. We do need to see a copy of the companion card before the boat can be boarded.

Recommended cruises for accessibility

We recommend our Dolphin Cruise and Views and Christmas Lights Cruises as wheelchair accessible. These tours operate on our 2 wheelchair accessible vessels – Mandjar and Dancing Dolphin. Our booking system asks if you will be bringing a wheelchair/ walker. This allows us to plan, so we would be grateful if you could let us know.

Our Murray River Lunch Cruise also operates on the Dancing Dolphin and while the Coolenup Island walking tour isn’t wheelchair accessible owing to the ramp needed at the Island’s jetty, the remainder of the tour is fully accessible.

Priced really well, and tickets can be purchased online or at the Mandurah Cruises shop…The cruise travelled around the canals, and we managed to spot some dolphins. The captain of the boat was accommodating and allowed one of our volunteers to take the steering wheel of the boat for a moment!
